
Rio 2016
The Rio Paralympics, held from September 7 to 18, 2016, showcased the extraordinary talents of athletes with disabilities from around the world.
This vibrant event featured over 4,300 competitors from 159 countries, competing in 22 sports. Aimed to promote inclusivity and raise awareness about the capabilities of disabled athletes, leaving a lasting legacy of empowerment and inspiration.
The Games featured groundbreaking moments, including the debut of new sports such as Para-canoe and Para-triathlon. With over 500 gold medals up for grabs, breathtaking performances and remarkable stories of resilience, the Rio Paralympics celebrated the spirit of sportsmanship and determination, demonstrating that barriers can be overcome through dedication and passion.

T37 - Athletics (1500 metre)
Ivan travelled to Rio with his coach, Keith Smith, of the St Croix Track & Field Association. The conditions in Rio were extremely hot and humid which contributed to Ivan just missing out on a PB time, but the crowd cheered him on to the finishing line which will be a lasting memory for him.
